Another twist in Celtic transfer chase for Albian Ajeti

Celtic

Celtic appeared to be closing in on Albian Ajeti but now it seems like there is another twist in the tale.

Celtic are looking at a number of options in the transfer market and earlier today, it appeared that they were close to a breakthrough. It was widely reported that West Ham United’s Swiss striker Albian Ajeti was in Glasgow already. And a medical was set to take place very soon.

Now though, there are conflicting reports in the media. The Scottish Sun have rubbished Sky Sports’ claim and report that Ajeti is not in Glasgow. There is an agreement is in place with West Ham United for a season-long loan with an option to buy. But Celtic are no closer to coming to terms with the player himself.

The Scottish Sun reported:

Sky Sports claimed the West Ham striker was in Scotland with his agent to finalise terms over a switch to the Scottish champions.

But we understand those claims are wide of the mark.

The Swiss international – who joined the EPL outfit in an £8million deal from FC Basel last summer- is one of a number of strikers Neil Lennon has been linked with as he looks to beef up his attacking options.

The clubs have agreed a season-long loan move with an option to buy next summer for £5million – but despite reports a switch north is not thought to be imminent.

This will come as a blow to the Celtic fans, who had thought that the club had finally gotten their man. This saga has gone on for too long to be honest. And the Hoops should surely be doing business more efficiently with 10IAR on the line.

If anything, yesterday’s performance showed that there are a lot of areas to be improved upon. This squad is nowhere near perfect. The defence needs a mini overhaul. And another right winger might not be a bad call either.

One thing is for sure though. We need to make deals. And we need to make them quick. Cause the longer we take, the harder it will get to bring in quality players.

  1. This guy’s ego is getting bigger by the second! He should only be asked once to sign? Any delay, sod him!

  2. Both Celtic FC and the Celtic Media are a bit disgraceful regarding possible transfer targets. The names being stated and the utter lack of signings revolve purely around Money. Lawwell has the financial control and is disrespectful concerning the players required to keep Celtic as the top team in the Scottish Premiership and to progress in Europe. Lennon I am afraid just does not have the Coaching where for all to take Celtic forward and neither does Kennedy. Absolutely shocking from a Celtic perspective.
