Celtic are clearly interested in bringing the Peterborough striker to Parkhead but it looks like they are not the only ones.
Both Edouard and Klimala look in brilliant form. Griffiths had also put in a promising display in his pre-season cameo against Hibernian. Yet it looks like Celtic are in the market for another striker.
According to reports, Vakoun Issouf Bayo looks set to bring an end to his nightmare time in Glasgow. And the club are looking to replace him with someone more capable of finding the back of the net. Of course, a wide number of players have been linked with the club. One man who has raised the interest of the Celtic fans though is Ivan Toney.
The 24-year-old English striker scored 26 goals and provided 7 assisted last season while playing for the League One side. That has naturally attracted the interest of a number of clubs one whom are Celtic. The Hoops appear to be in danger in missing out on their man though if they do not move quick.
Peterborough Director of Football Barry Fry claims that Toney is very close to joining a different club although he preferred a move to the Scottish champions in the first place. Fry told the Daily Mail:
‘They are running out of time now.
‘The lad is very close to signing for someone else in the next couple of days.
‘Celtic would have been his preferred choice, but they are nowhere near it.’
The price that Peterborough have place on Toney’s head though appears to be astronomical. While it is not clear what they want, media has suggested transfer fees going as high as £10 million.
We do not need to tell that there is no way that Celtic are not going to pay that amount of money for a League One striker. And to be very honest, we might not even need another striker.
